Five volunteer firefighter groups in Cochabamba received 3,000+ pounds of equipment and supplies from Mano a Mano last week (over the first week of September, 2024).
This included 27 firefighting suits/outfits, 5 backboards/stretchers for transport of people with injuries, 80 items/kits for first aid or prehospital care, and other needed items. In response to the ongoing national emergency caused by fires across Bolivia, Mano a Mano is happy to help these groups in their large firefighting efforts in a small way, and we are grateful to the Minnesota and Wisconsin fire departments that donated these supplies. In Minnesota, we collect supplies and equipment destined for the landfill and send them to Bolivia, where they get new life and get put to good use by people and organizations throughout the country. We have sent 7 containers with 182,317 pounds from Minnesota to Bolivia so far in 2024.
