What's a Trip Like?

A typical Mano a Mano trip usually lasts 7-10 days; we spend 3-4 days visiting Mano a Mano projects and spending time with our Bolivian staff, volunteers, and communities. This portion of the trip is guided by a bilingual US staff member who will travel with your group. Typically we will participate in a welcoming ceremony with our Bolivian staff and volunteers, travel to an operating Mano a Mano health clinic, visit a water project, and participate in a dedication ceremony of a new project.

The rest of your trip is completely up to you, and we will help make arrangements (this portion will not be guided by a Mano a Mano staff member; costs for this portion are not included in the base fee). Each trip is unique and can be tailored to your interests and events taking place in Bolivia at the time. The video below is of a trip from 2010 – a group of travelers from the Northeastern United States traveled to climb mountains and get started on a fundraised to build a clinic with Mano a Mano in Chunavi. Bolivia (the clinic was completed one year later):

COSTS

A typical trip costs $1900 + your international flights. The $1900 covers all costs during your time with Mano a Mano in Bolivia, including the following:

  • flights within Bolivia
  • transportation (with experienced drivers and quality vehicles capable of handling Bolivian roads)
  • lodging
  • food for time spent with Mano a Mano
  • staff and administrative time spent planning and facilitating your stay with Mano a Mano
The $1900 does not include your international flight from the US to Bolivia, pre-travel preparations ($135 travel visa for Bolivia – which is required, immunizations, travel insurance, etc.), or any additional travel before/after your time with Mano a Mano. Flights on the Mano a Mano airplane for a side-trip to the Salt Flats (pictured below) or other locations would also not be included.

It is hard to put into words what these trips are like for our travelers and how much of a profound impact they can have on people’s lives. We invite you to contact us and experience Bolivia with us!
