Check out a few Mano a Mano updates from September 2024:

Celebrating 30 Years in Operation

Thank you to everyone that attended our event at Mano a Mano on September 15th celebrating 30 years in operation for our Minnesota-based nonprofit! Everything we are able to do is a partnership: we are so grateful to our volunteers, donors, interns, staff, Board, travelers, and everyone that is a part of Mano a Mano! Working together, we can accomplish our mission of “Partnering together – Hand in Hand – to transform the health and well-being of Bolivian communities in need.” (We kept last week’s event at our warehouse on the smaller side, as we are wrapping up some construction work on the building.)

New Volunteers at Mano a Mano Internacional

Posts From Grace (and Fellow Volunteer Lasse) During Their Time With Mano a Mano in 2023 & 2024

We were happy to have Grace Jones back for a second summer (summer in the US, winter in Bolivia) volunteering with our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Internacional! There are links to some of Grace’s newsletters and updates during her time with Mano a Mano this year and last year below. Thank you Grace! Mano a Mano is always interested in working with volunteers like Grace that will be spending some time in Bolivia; feel free to contact us. (As a general rule, we are looking for volunteers that will be in Bolivia for a month or more, are independent and have their accommodations mostly figured out, and speak at least some Spanish.)

Distributing Medical Supplies and Equipment for 33 Organizations Throughout Bolivia (September 2024)

Last week, Mano a Mano distributed nearly 10,000 pounds (4.5 tons) of medical supplies, mobility equipment, and other items to 33 organizations from 9 municipalities throughout Bolivia that came to our Cochabamba warehouse to pick things up.

Supplies and Equipment for Mano a Mano Bolivia

Last week, our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia stopped by our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Internacional to pick up medical supplies, mobility equipment, and other items sent from Minnesota in support of our health programs throughout Bolivia.

Dedicating a New Health Clinic and New School in Bolivia (September 2024)

Last week (on September 25th and 26th), our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia dedicated a new health clinic and a new school in Bolivia!

Weekly Wrap-Up – Early September 2024

With 5 counterpart organizations in Minnesota and Bolivia and many projects and programs, Mano a Mano is always busy! Check out a few updates of what we have going on over the course of a week, in partnership with Bolivian communities and supported by many people and organizations.

Mano a Mano’s newest health clinic in El Carmen is complete and being dedicated soon!

Opening a Container from Minnesota

Mano a Mano’s Recovered Resources Program is a constant cycle: picking up supplies in Minnesota; preparing for shipments 3-4x/year from Minnesota to Bolivia; making distributions for people and organizations throughout Bolivia; and unloading and organizing containers at our Cochabamba warehouse, like we were busy with last week.

Working on the Mano a Mano Airport in Punata

Mano a Mano broke ground on the airport terminal portion of the Mano a Mano airport project in Punata, Bolivia on August 28th, 2024. Work continues on a daily basis, and the runway will be paved and completed in the coming months.

The DISU (Dirección de interacción social universitaria, or University Social Interaction Department), part of the University of San Simon, created the group “Jornadas de Salud y Bienestar One Health, or One Health Health and Wellness Days.” In mid-September, the official launch of the group was made in which Mano a Mano will support the university (Paola was present at the launch representing Mano a Mano) in its Health Days programs and they will also join as volunteers in the jornadas that we organize as Mano a Mano Aviation. We have been working on expanding the number of volunteers and we are ready with several communities to provide jornadas once our plane completes some maintenance work.
