Staff from our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Nuevo Mundo recently visited the water reservoir we completed in partnership with the community of Ucuchi – our first water reservoir built in 2005. The reservoir is currently at around 80% capacity after a month of heavy rains. The reservoir is now an integral part of the San Isidro Ecotourism Park; we are happy to see the impact that this project continues to have, nearly 2 decades since its dedication in March 2006.
The rains over the past month have been welcomed after a year where no rain fell at all in many communities. But the heavy rains have also led to flooding throughout Bolivia, with at least 85,974 families affected, 52 deaths, and 947 homes destroyed.
