Mano a Mano Speaker Series: June 11, 2019

Join us at Mano a Mano on Tuesday, June 11th for our monthly Speaker Series event. June’s speaker is Agleska Cohen-Rencountre (Lower Brule Sioux Tribe), in their fourth year in the Department of American Studies, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.

Agleska Cohen-Rencountre (Lower Brule Sioux Tribe) is in their fourth year in the American Studies program at UMN TC.

Their studies are in American Indian and Indigenous studies focusing on gender and sexuality during the mid-twentieth century in South Dakota. They will present a paper about the ways federal policies are remembered (through ethnohistorical research), “Remembering Public Law 280 in Lower Brule SD”.

Mano a Mano Speaker Series

Mano a Mano started our Speaker Series as a way to engage with researchers and practitioners working with indigenous peoples on development and environmental issues. Our goal is to share and learn from each other and to support the indigenous peoples that we serve.

The event is free and takes place at Mano a Mano (925 Pierce Butler Route, St. Paul, MN 55104) from 6:30pm-7:45pm.
