Last week, Mano a Mano celebrated the dedication of our 185th health clinic project in the community of Catariri, Bolivia! The community of Catariri, local leaders, Municipal leaders, visitors from MELA (who were in Bolivia for a health education workshop the previous week), staff from our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia, and staff from our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Internacional were present to officially dedicate this new clinic. The Catariri clinic joins Mano a Mano’s network of 184 clinics in Bolivia that had 1,389,436 patient visits in 2023.

Every Mano a Mano Project is a Partnership

Every Mano a Mano project is a partnership: thank you to our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia, who oversees the process of building clinics from start to finish; the local community of Catariri and municipal government of Aiquile that are involved throughout the process; and US funders that are providing the seed money that make this project possible!

Each partner group (Mano a Mano Bolivia, the local community, the Alcaldia) toured the Catariri clinic in March to inspect the project’s progress.

Mano a Mano Clinics Become Part of the Bolivian Healthcare System

With Mano a Mano clinics, they become part of the Bolivian healthcare system and are the official provider for their catchment area, making them eligible for services and reimbursement through Health Ministry-funded programs. All staff salaries in Mano a Mano’s clinics are paid for by sources within Bolivia. Our clinic program’s approach is that health outcomes can be dramatically improved with simple yet effective interventions, beginning with the basic ability to consistently access quality services in their own communities.

Why We Built a Clinic in Catariri

We made this video a year ago demonstrating the need for a clinic in Catariri, and we are happy to be able to be completing this project to improve access to healthcare for the community.
