Volunteer Opportunities in May 2015

In May, we currently have 4 volunteer opportunities scheduled on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings; you are welcome to stop by Mano a Mano (925 Pierce Butler Route, St. Paul, MN 55104) to volunteer if you’re interested, no RSVP needed:

  • Sup and Sort, Tuesdays, 5-8pm. (The Tuesday Soup and Sort name is being changed to Sup and Sort because the weather is changing and food other than soup may be served). At 5pm gather to eat a meal that is provided and then sort supplies from 6-8pm, or whatever hours you can provide. Email Karen ([email protected]) if you have any questions. Sup and Sort is scheduled for the following dates in May:
    • May 5
    • May 19
  • Saturday Sorting, 9a-noon. Stop by Mano a Mano to sort supplies; you can stay as long or as short as you’d like.
    • May 2
    • May 30

All of these activities, along with any other Mano a Mano events, are posted on our Events Calendar.

Why Sort Supplies?

Mano a Mano was founded 21 years ago with the goal of saving surplus medical supplies from the landfill in Minnesota and shipping them to Bolivia, where we knew these supplies were desperately needed and could be used immediately. We have grown to now building infrastructure projects in partnership with rural Bolivian communities (more than 300 projects to date), but the surplus distribution program remains a critical component of our programs in Bolivia, while also reducing waste in Minnesota.

Last year we shipped more than 100,000 pounds of supplies from Minnesota to Bolivia, with the help of many volunteers!

Many supplies we send are distributed to Mano a Mano's network of 151 health clinics throughout Bolivia.
