The Fall 2022 semester is wrapping up; we were happy to be able to have a farewell lunch for our 7 Metro State Social Work interns and St. Kate’s Community Leaders intern yesterday (and are sad to see them go)!
The Metro State students also presented their Mano a Mano research project yesterday that is part of their program coursework.

Metro State Social Work Field Placement
Mano a Mano has been happy to be a field placement site for Metro State’s Social Work program for the past few years. This video below was made in partnership with TPT in 2019 highlighting this partnership, and the importance of social work to Mano a Mano as an organization.
Culturally Competent Social Work Practice
Mano a Mano co-founder Joan Velasquez’s social work background has had a huge influence on Mano a Mano’s community-based partnership model over the past 28 years; as Joan says: “Mano a Mano’s model is just good social work.” The powerpoint below is from a presentation Joan made a few years ago:
