Mano a Mano Speaker Series: Caroline Doenmez on October 9th

The seventh talk of our Speaker Series is with Caroline Doenmez, PhD student in the Anthropology Department at the University of Minnesota. She will be discussing “Beginning Again In Our Bodies: Indigenous Women Reclaiming Birth.”

We at Mano a Mano want to engage with researchers and practitioners working with indigenous peoples on development and environmental issues. Our goal is to share and learn from each other and to support the indigenous peoples we serve.

Caroline Doenmez

Caroline Fidan Tyler Doenmez is a PhD student in the Anthropology Department at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, with a minor in American Indian and Indigenous Studies. Her research focuses on the reclamation of Indigenous birth practices in both Canada and the US. She received her MA from Columbia University and her BA from Smith College. She is a descendent of the Zaza Kurds in Dersim, eastern Turkey.
