Mano a Mano recently visited the community of Laguna Sulti, where we have constructed a water reservoir, and the community is very happy with the results. Dona Marta recently showed off her crops and expects a bumper crop this year. Don Juan Bastista, a 63-year old farmer who lives in Laguna Sulti, wanted to talk about how much the water has helped:
It’s a wonder that we are able to grow and irrigate crops during the dry season now! Land that was never used for crops is now being irrigated. We still have a lot of work to do; so far 150 members of our water cooperative have irrigated their crops (which isn’t everyone).
