Every quarter we get an extremely detailed report from our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia about the activity in our network of health clinics – number of patient visits, type of care, demographic information, etc. (this is where we get the information for health program updates like this one for the first half of 2013).
With Mano a Mano clinics having 442,995 patient visits in the first half of the year, that puts us over 5 million patient visits since our health program started in 1999! (Just for reference, about 4 million Bolivians live in rural areas.) Mano a Mano clinics provide access to health care to over 700,000 Bolivians, and our scale grows each year with every additional clinic that we build.
It is a huge effort by many different people to make these projects successful; thanks to everyone that made it possible to get to this milestone! You can learn more about our collaborative model here.
