Across 5 counterpart organizations in Bolivia and Minnesota, working across many projects and programs in many different places, Mano a Mano always has a lot going on! Check out a few numbers from 2024 to get a better idea of our work (and here is our 2024 Annual Report for an overall snapshot):

  • Mano a Mano celebrated 30 years in operation this year!
  • In 2024, Mano a Mano shipped 7 containers with 182,317 pounds of donated medical supplies, mobility equipment, and other in-demand items from Minnesota to Bolivia (with another shipment planned in the near future).
  • We received well over 1,000 separate donations of supplies and equipment at our St. Paul warehouse throughout the year, which enables our shipments to Bolivia.
  • In Bolivia, through the first half of the year more than 431 health centers, individuals, and organizations received supplies from Mano a Mano.
  • Our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia dedicated 3 new clinics (187 clinics built to date) and 2 new schools (70 clinics built to date) this year.
  • Through the first half of 2024, Mano a Mano’s network of health clinics throughout rural Bolivia had 678,916 patient visits.
  • There are 546 medical professionals – 200 doctors, 266 nurses, and 80 dentists – working in Mano a Mano clinics (first half of 2024 reporting).
  • Mano a Mano received a 4-star (out of 4 stars, a 95% overall rating) on Charity Navigator – as has been the case for a decade.
  • The value of volunteer time in Minnesota is $36.31 per hour; with over 16,000 hours of volunteer time dedicated through our Minnesota-based nonprofit annually on average, that equals $580,960! (And each of our 4 counterpart organizations in Bolivia also receives thousands of hours of volunteer support themselves!)
  • It takes about an hour to fly from Cochabamba to San Francisco de Moxos (where we hosted a weekend health clinic earlier this year, and is in the same general geographic area as many of our aviation programs); by car it would take about 23 hours each way, and is not possible outside of the dry season due to many roads being flooded (Google can’t compute!). This is the basis for Mano a Mano Aviation’s program: in emergencies we can provide rapid transport to care in an hour or 2 rather than 10-20+ hours; for weekend health clinics medical professionals from the city can spend almost all of a weekend providing volunteer healthcare in rural communities with only an ~hour commute, rather than just driving back and forth the entire time.
  • Every Mano a Mano project is a partnership; 1– Mano a Mano provides in-kind and technical support in Bolivia, 2 – Mano a Mano US provides in-kind and technical support from the US, 3 – the community identifies and requests the project and provides volunteer and in-kind support, 4 – their Municipal government provides financial support for a portion of project costs, and 5 – your donation provides the seed money that unlocks each of these pieces. Together, we can accomplish things that none of us can do on our own. (There are small changes with the model depending on the project, but the partnership-based approach is the same regardless.)
  • While Mano a Mano completes many projects in partnership with Bolivian communities each year – over 300 clinics, schools, water projects, greenhouses, etc. have been completed to date – dozens of communities are on our waiting list; we are missing your support to be able to reach their communities.
