Yesterday we received a $5,437.95 check from Unity Church! Mano a Mano was the recipient of the Easter church service congregational collection, and even as a virtual service due to COVID-19 precautions, Unity members donated nearly double what has been given in previous year’s offerings designated for Mano a Mano. We are so grateful for the generosity shown by Unity, and we are happy to work together in many different ways. Thanks again!
Unity Easter Offering to Mano a Mano
Unity sent us the following email in mid-March:
As a member of Unity Church-Unitarian’s Generosity Team, I am delighted to inform you that 70% of the congregational collection during our Easter church service on Sunday, April 12, 2020 will be donated to Mano a Mano.
Despite the closure of the Unity Church building due to Covid-19 precautions, our services are continuing on-line, and we have the capacity to collect donations from our members. Especially during these challenging times, it is important for us to maintain our church community’s traditions of generosity and sharing. As you know, our church’s offering recipients meet the following criteria: their mission and values reflect the core values of Unity Church-Unitarian; they connect to Unity Church through shared work and affinity; and they receive one or more Unity Church members’ endorsement. Our online service will include a brief description by the ministers of Mano a Mano’s mission and activities. As always, we sincerely hope that our donation will help further this critical work. Best wishes on behalf of the Unity Church Unitarian Generosity Team, and the entire church community.
Sincerely, Generosity Team member
Values Based Volunteering
Many of Mano a Mano’s most committed volunteers are Unity Church members (including our Co-Founders Joan and Segundo Velasquez). Unity volunteers were featured as part of Mano a Mano’s video project with TPT last year highlighting our work in the Twin Cities:
