49 Emergency Air Rescues in August

Mano a Mano’s aviation program transported 49 people to emergency care in the month of August. The vast majority of these flights are going from our hangar in Cochabamba to the department of Beni, located in the Amazon region of Bolivia.

Weekend Health Clinics in Beni Department

In addition to providing emergency air rescues, Mano a Mano Aviation also coordinates weekend health clinics for isolated communities, primarily in the department of Beni.

Below are a few photos from a recent weekend health clinic in August 2014. These weekend health clinics are a collaboration between two of Mano a Mano’s counterpart organizations; Mano a Mano Bolivia provides volunteer medical professionals and supplies, and Mano a Mano Aviation provides the transportation.

Education is always a part of our weekend health clinics, here Dra. Rocha showing children how to brush their teeth.

In 2013, Mano a Mano Bolivia participated in 27 weekend health clinics (Mano a Mano Aviation also provided transportation and coordinated an additional 15 weekend health clinics, for a total of 42 weekend health clinics supported by Mano a Mano last year).

Since the aviation program began in 2005, Mano a Mano has provided 2,461 emergency flights and 217 weekend health clinics.
