Over the weekend volunteer Bolivian medical professionals from our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia flew to Ushbe, a remote community in the department of Beni to provide free dental and medical care. The vast majority of these jornadas (weekend health clinics) take place in the eastern, tropical departments of Bolivia in the Amazon, where communities are too small and dispersed to consider building a clinic.

 Weekend Health Clinics

Mano a Mano Aviation provides the flights for around 30 jornadas like this one each year; without an aviation program these jornadas would not be possible. Volunteer medical professionals give up their weekends for these jornadas, but if they had to drive it could take 10-20 hours each way to drive to these sites, leaving little time for time with patients; in the Mano a Mano planes they can get there in an hour or two.
