Award Announcement
We have some exciting news. One of the winning ensembles from the 2018 SPCO Youth Chamber Music Competition will participate in a major chamber music festival in Mantua, Italy this summer.
Trio Luminoso, a piano trio that won Level B, has been accepted to perform in the Trame Sonore, Mantova Chamber Music Festival, a five-day international chamber music festival that attracts about 300 musicians each summer.
A special program for young chamber music players will take place on Friday, June 1 at the festival. They will perform the complete Beethoven Piano Trio in D Major, Op. 70. They also will attend a master class by Alfred Brendel, a special guest at the festival.
The students are all age 14. They are Emily Kleiber, violin, an eighth-grader at Hudson Middle School in Hudson, Wisconsin; Andrea Wallick, cello, a ninth-grader at Eastview High School in Apple Valley; and Joseph Caswell, piano, an eighthgrader at Lighthouse School in Spring Lake Park. Their coach is Tom Rosenberg, Director of The Chamber Music Academy of the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music.
The Friends of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, who coordinate the competition, are grateful to donors who contributed a total of $3,000 toward their travel.
