We were sad to see the news that Karl Norman passed away recently. Our condolences to Karl’s family and friends, and we are so grateful for the many ways that Karl supported Mano a Mano over decades. From the Duluth News Tribune obituary:

“Can-Do Karl traveled the world and loved meeting people everywhere he went. He was known for his work ethic and commitment to helping others. Karl was a proud member of Skyline Rotary known for his parties and generosity. After building a clinic in South America with Rotary he was so moved that he personally donated money for a second clinic in Bolivia.

There will be a wake at Doughertys Funeral Home on May 31st at 5 pm and a funeral mass on June 1st at 10 am at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church followed by a celebration of life at the Incline Station. In lieu of flowers, the family asks people to consider a donation to Rotary International or ManoaMano.org”

The Sumala clinic was completed in 2005 with support from Karl. This clinic was expanded by Mano a Mano in 2020.

San Jacinto Clinic Dedication (2005)

We are sharing this video from the clinic dedication of San Jacinto in 2005 that was dedicated, along with a new clinic in Sumala, during a trip to Bolivia that Karl participated in with Mano a Mano (both of these clinics were made possible with support from Karl and Rotary 5580 Duluth clubs). You can watch him at the 9:10 mark, and throughout the video.
