Mano a Mano co-founder Segundo Velasquez was 1 of 3 finalists for the Opus Prize 2012, with a $1 million award for the winner and $100,000 each to the two runners-up. At the awards ceremony at St. Catherine University on Thursday evening, Mano a Mano won $100,000 as a runner-up!

We were very proud to be one of the three finalists and to be recognized alongside two other very impressive nonprofits working in Haiti and Brasil.

The Opus Prize put together a great video showcasing Mano a Mano:

Thank you to everyone who participated in this amazing experience: the group that traveled to Bolivia for the due diligence trip, Mano a Mano staff and volunteers, The Opus Prize foundation members and staff, and everyone at St. Catherine University who did a wonderful job hosting all of the events this week!

UPDATE: the Star Tribune wrote an article about Mano a Mano and the award, as well as the Pioneer Press.
