Our counterpart organization Mano a Mano Bolivia hosted a Life Support workshop, with theory and practical sections, in November 2022 in collaboration with MELA and local Bolivian volunteer medical professionals. A critical component of Mano a Mano’s health programs in Bolivia is to provide health education; these programs are managed and administered by Mano a Mano Bolivia, and serve a complementary role to the construction of Mano a Mano community clinics throughout rural Bolivia.

On November 19, 2022, we hosted the practical classes for the Pre-Hospital Life Support Course, with stations for practical simulations in collaboration with volunteers from a diverse set of specialties. The previous 4 days were a theory-based virtual course presented in collaboration with volunteer doctors and paramedics from Medical Educators for Latin America (MELA) (Idaho chapter).

We thank all of the Bolivian and international volunteers that made this course possible.

Continuing Health Education

A critical component of Mano a Mano’s health programs in Bolivia is to provide health education:

  • to communities through weekend health clinics providing basic services
  • to Mano a Mano’s clinic staff through continuing health education workshops
  • to medical professionals from other organizations

These programs are managed and administered by Mano a Mano Bolivia, and serve a complementary role to the construction of community clinics throughout rural Bolivia. Although workshops continue to be somewhat limited in 2022 due to COVID, Mano a Mano Bolivia hosted 9 health education workshops for 655 attendees in the first half of 2022.
